The Sweet Honey Overdrive (SHOD) is a highly touch-sensitive, low-gain overdrive designed to respond naturally to your playing dynamics. It excels at adding controlled light overdrive to clean tones and enhancing already overdriven amplifiers without masking their core character.
The amount of distortion is strongly influenced by pick attack and pickup output — dig in for natural overdrive, or play softly for a cleaner, more open tone. This dynamic behavior makes the Sweet Honey Overdrive an excellent choice for expressive players who rely on feel rather than heavy gain.
A defining feature of the pedal is the Focus control, which adjusts both the feel and overall EQ of the circuit. Turning Focus counter-clockwise requires harder playing to reach distortion and results in a softer, rounder tone, well suited for jazz and blues. Turning it clockwise introduces earlier breakup and a slight treble boost, making it ideal for classic rock tones. The result is a versatile and musical overdrive that adapts easily to different playing styles and genres.
Controls
- VOLUME – Sets the overall output volume.
- DRIVE – Controls the amount of overdrive.
- FOCUS – Adjusts how easily the circuit distorts and shapes the overall EQ. Turning counter-clockwise yields less distortion and a mellower tone; turning clockwise produces earlier distortion with a slight treble boost. A good starting point is around the 11 o’clock position.
