The Evolution Orange Underdrive (EOU) offers a unique and musical approach to tone shaping. Instead of overdriving a clean signal, it allows you to create cleaner tones from an already overdriven sound — hence the name Underdrive.
EOU works especially well with vintage-style single-channel amplifiers that sound their best when pushed into overdrive. When cleaning up such amps using the guitar’s volume control alone, the tone often becomes darker and less inspiring. The Evolution Orange Underdrive solves this problem by giving you precise control over the frequency balance and output level of your cleaner tones.
By lowering the midrange — where overdrive is most prominent — EOU effectively reduces gain while preserving clarity and musicality. The Volume control allows you to dampen the amplifier input, while the Bass and Treble controls let you tailor the cleaned-up tone to taste. Alternatively, by increasing the Midrange and Volume controls, EOU can also be used as a focused mid boost.
The result is a highly versatile tone-shaping tool that expands the usable range of overdriven amplifiers without compromising feel or dynamics.
